londons calling

My first impressions of London were in Trafalgar square.
  • London really does have a million red double decker buses.
  • Those little red phone booths are on almost every block.
  • Everything is old...I couldn't believe how amazing all the buildings were.
  • Pigeons were sitting and pooping on every statue.
  • There is a monument for just about anything you can think of.
  • The subway is so much cleaner than New Yorks. I didn't see a single rat or mouse.

The first thing we did was see England (free) National Gallery. It was amazing. We spent only an hour or two, but saw so much:
  • Claude-Oscar Monet
  • Peter Paul Rubens
  • Rembrandt
  • Vincent van Gogh
  • Michelangelo
  • Raphael
  • Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio
  • Leonardo da Vinci
  • Sandro Botticelli

Afterwords we walked down the street for a bit and I really couldn't believe how close everything is to each other.

Big Ben

Westminister Abbey
We made it just in time for an Evensong service. I absolutely loved it, thank you Sarah for the recommendation. They had an entire choir sing the service, and the acoustics within the abbey are unreal. It was about an hour long and so worth it.

London Eye and a blissfully happy Kenneth.

I realize we look photoshopped into this London Bridge picture, but we aren't so just imagine it twinkling at night.
Picadilly Circus was covered in Christmas lights and bustling with people. Reminded me so much of Times square.
