We were laughing at the thought of two white people showing up in colored clothes...thankfully we changed before that embarrassment. I wish you could have seen Doris all dressed up with sunglasses on, and dancing her heart out. She is the best.
Is she not the sexiest ghanaian 40 year old?? I wanted to just kiss her when she walked out of her room in this little number.
They prepared chicken, rolls, salad, and a chocolate for each person that attended. They had someone serving minerals to everyone who came along with bottled water. It really was amazing.
After the main party the family gathered at Doris's house for another meal of jollof and chicken and more minerals of course. Such a crazy day. The entire house was packed with cousins and friends and family.
After awhile we felt it was okay to leave so we walked around town, bought some presents for people, and spent some time with the Rastas. I miss Muhammad, but I'm glad they still feel comfortable rolling their joints in front of me. Everyone misses Muhammad, and I eventually found someone with his contact info. We will see how that works out. After we were finished shopping Kenny said he felt like he was at a car lot...ha ha shopping in Ghana is always like that.
We picked out some cute little purses for our sunbeams, and baby drums for the boys. We figure we owe them for leaving for 4 weeks. We bought a pineapple, and ate the entire thing before we made it home.
By the time 730 rolled around I wasn't feeling well so I decided to go to bed. At first I thought it was just cramps because I'm on my period, but the more time that passed the more I felt the nausea. By about 9 I was writhing in pain I really haven't felt this awful in ages. The worst part was the heat. I was sweating because of how hot the night was, and then the sickness on top of it was horrible. I sat up to tell Kenny something and then came the throw up. Seriously the worst throwing up I've ever had in my life. Oh my dear sweet Kenny scrambling around the room to find a bag for me. Well after I had thrown up over a 1/2 gallon ...seriously... I went to the bathroom and found out I was still sick. Ha ha tmi? The night followed the same suit for the next couple hours. My Kenneth knelt over me with a shirt and fanned me for probably 30 minutes straight. He took my throw up to the toilet and brought water so he could flush it. Needless to say he was my angel. At one point it was so bad I was just crying in bed as I tried breathing through all the pain, and then there was Kenny dressed in his church clothes to give me a blessing without me saying a word. I felt so awful, and yet so much love and gratitude for my husband, for his worthiness to hold the priesthood, and his love for me. It was an awful-sweet experience all wrapped in one. Can't imagine my life without him. I eventually fell asleep for the rest of the night. Thank goodness.
