Dec. 21

Dec. 21
First off I woke up cold...cold!!! Kenny and I got to cuddle for the first time since being in Ghana. Ha ha secondly we woke at like 430 in the morning to the stupid roosters. I believe Kenny's first words were..."im going to punch that rooster in the face". It was literally right outside our window, and there are nothing in the windows in Ghana do basically it was right beside us. Every time it would crow a chain reaction would start throughout the village of other roosters. Occasionally a goat would chime in his two cents. I was just laughing by this point. When we finally went outside I literally stood in awe. It had rained during the night, and the village was covered in fog. Fires were lit throughout the entire village, and you could just make out the trees rising above the fog around the outer parts of village. It is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Kenny and I went walking in the cocoa grove so we could take our morning pee. I think I could get used to no toilet if I get to walk in that every morning. I held the baby while i watched the fog rise, and she had an explosion of yellow poop which got all over me. I was laughing so hard...diapers are really handy.

Sammy arrived later on, and we walked to the edge of the jungle where they often see the forest elephants and monkeys. It is not the season right now, so we didn't see anything, but it was gorgeous. So many bird, bug, and frog noises. Amazing.

We ate rice and groundnut soup for breakfast, and Sammy asked us questions about the gospel. I was glad to have Kenny with me to help direst the lesson. Half way through I decided to just hold the baby and listen...no objections to watching my husband teach and playing with a baby.

We left around noon on the motorbike, and by we I mean Kenny Sammy and me. Ha ha worst ride ever. I was so squished. We finally made it back to gyankobo, and I can't imagine what a sight we were to see.

Sammy bought us minerals before we went to his apartment so we could see his computer. The desktop picture is of Kenny and I. He copied it off of Facebook. He is the best. He showed us his diploma, and other things he's been working on. He also had pictures for me from him and dispenser helping in the village. It was wonderful to see them.

Afterwords we visited with dispenser, and he insisted on buying us minerals. Too much soda if you ask me, but eventually we were on our way back to cape. We made it home by around 430, just enough time to take a bucket shower before fried rice for dinner.

We spent the night with Jude, Rosemond, Clara belle, and Sam. They are a couple of their cousins from Britain in town for the celebration tomorrow to honor Doris's mom who died 20 years ago. We had a lot of competitions throughout the night skipping jumping eating, and other games. It was quite the night. By 930 I was going to fall asleep on the table so we decided to go up to bed. Wonderful day. So glad we decided to stay the night in the village. What an experience.

On a side note I asked Sammy what I would need to do to buy land in antwikwaa, and he said buy...they will be honored to give you as much as you want, do you want a farm, or just a house. Ha ha perfect I can be a land owner, and most of all my dream is to build a home here in the village for volunteers to come stay in, free land makes it that much more plausible.

  1. My favorite part of this whole post is where Kenny wants to punch the rooster in the face, because I can so see him saying that!
